Joined by Judy Linnell, we started the workshop with a refreshing mark-making talk and learned not only about the importance of lines, but edges! Playing with an extensive amount of materials provided by Judy we soon got to work in our Come Draw with Me sketchbooks and assorted papers, on the headland overlooking Strumble Head Lighthouse, surrounded by the magnificent beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks, manipulating a range of materials with brushes, pastels, pens, pencils, twigs, forks, even an almond!
Time flew by. We were so blessed with the glorious weather, good company and endless inspiration.
Equally impressive were the children of Coast Line’s photographer Karel Mujica and lead artist Lizzy Stonhold’s son, who created effortless masterpieces depicting the lighthouse in all its splendour. Aged 4 and 5, they maintained enthusiasm, interest and commitment to their drawings for the whole duration of the workshop – well done boys!
As a parent it is a constant juggling act trying to balance work and family, but moments like this make it all worthwhile. Truly heart-warming having this little man sketch at my side!
Another successful workshop recording a significant part of coastal life. An iconic landmark in our coastline, a beacon of strength, perseverance and hope. A symbol of our identity here in North Pembrokeshire.
