Llain Las

We visited Llain Las this morning. We had a wonderful welcome from about 14 residents and Helen Lucas who hosted the coffee morning. We described the Coast Lines project and looked through the sketchbooks. We asked the residents to bring a card, photo, object or an item that has some meaning to them, perhaps reminds them of a person, a memory or event or that simply gives them pleasure when they look at it.

We started by doodling to get some of the residents over the 'I can't draw' and to encourage them to play and not worry about the end product but just enjoy the creative process. We then looked at some of their memories, an elephant from Kenya, a horse from the Black Mountains, one beautiful tapestry, photographs, children in Australia and Iraq. Memories from the Gwaun Valley, a beautiful photo of Ruby, a 'lassie' dog, memories of Jamaica, the discovery of a secret artist and a hedgehog. A precious locket. Sad and happy memories, a laugh, a chat and some lovely drawings.
